Larry Scott muscle growth story

     Larry Scott started his muscle growth story in a small city, in Idaho. The fact that he wanted to be loved, and appreciated determined him to start working on himself, instead of blaming others for the fact that people were disregarded him. One day, the answer to his prayer came as a blessing. He was looking for informations regarding muscle growth stories, when he discovered, in 1965, into the dumps, a Weider Magazine. On the cover of the magazine was Steve Reeves. And that was the beginning.
    His journey lead him to California, looking for nutrition tips. He learned more, and gradually grew bigger. Overcoming the fear of failure, Larry won Mr. California in 1960. But this little success motivated him, and soon he decided to train for a new competition, against the best champions of the world. Scott was excited, but nervous. He was wondering if he can compete against those huge guys. Tasting from the failure cup, he was a little bit scared of Harold Poole, which dusted him in the past. But he knew that he must get bigger in order not to be shrinked just by comparison.

     That's how he discovered the secrets of muscle growth:
     1. He stopped using barbells and switched totally to dumbbells. His technique called dumbbell tri series brought him Mr. Olympia prize in 1966.
     2. You are 3 times stronger on the negative than you are on the positive. All the power is on the way down.
     3. Build grip if you want to build big deltoids. Grip gives control to the dumbbell handle. Important deltoid tips:
        * when doing db presses always keep the little finger side of the higher than the dumb side;
        * when lowering the db stick the db out as wide as possible without lowering the little finger side of the db;
        * press the elbows back as hard as you press them up (this builds the rear and side deltoid);
        * dump a little water out at the top of the movement;
        * you should see the rear deltoids flex in the mirror in front of you;
     4. He took notes from his trainings, trying to pack some meat on his fragile frame. Those notes become the legacy which helped thousands to build their dream body. A measure of progress is always required in the pathway to success.
     5. Important preacher biceps building tips: go all the way down and uncurl the wrists; work on your forearms so you can curl the wrists slowly as you come up. The key to the growth is to find ways to do the bb curl more strict. Elbows "in" and hands wide. Use "Spider Curls" - one of the best peak biceps movement Larry ever found.
    6.  Triceps building tip: to build long head the elbows must be above the head.

    One of the problems Larry focused was how to get rid of pot belly without doing sit-ups or leg raises. Middle section is red muscle fiber. It's not white muscle fiber. So the exercise should be very isolated. That lead him to an exercise called the ring of fire, which helps to flatten your stomach. When doing this exercise, the muscle must to go into cramp. When the red muscle fiber goes into cramp, it send a signal that it needs growth hormone. And growth hormone does 3 things: builds muscle, burns fat and makes you look and feel younger.

     Important abdominal training tips:
     1. Mid section is red muscle fiber and has to be trained different from white muscle fiber.
     2. Make it go into cramp.
     3. You can train mid section several times a day. The recovery time of red muscle fibre is faster.

     Muscle growth - Chest secrets:
     1. Mid pecs: db presses hold the little fingers higher than the thumbs and press with the outside butt of the palms. This places the stress on the pecs, not on the triceps. Lockout on top.
     2. Upper pecs: use Smith Machine with elbows high and bar all the way down to the neck.
     3. Lower pecs: use V shaped dipping bars with elbows forward, palms reversed, back convex and legs forward.

     Muscle growth - calves development
     1. Go to a movement that they never seen before. Combine Donkey Calf raise with Standing calf rise. You must have a complete movement, to reach the bone support. Get full extension and full contratction.
     2. Do exercise with bare feet and rubber padded block.
